Many people have heirloom pieces hidden away in their jewellery box which never see the light of day, or a piece handed down to them from someone special which means so much to them but just isn’t their style. By repurposing the stones and redesigning them into something new it’s possible to retain all the sentimentality of the original piece but create a fresh modern design that you will want to wear. 

SENTIMENTALITY

It’s a privilege to work with heirloom stones – pieces so loved and treasured that their sentimental value simply can’t be measured - and I just love hearing the stories behind these special pieces. Particularly with family stones, people often have a strong desire to wear a piece of jewellery that once belonged to a loved one but at the same time wanting something that suits their own individual style. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

The first step on the journey to redesigning an heirloom piece is to get in touch and as with every commission I will work with you through a series of conversations, either at my home or remotely to guide you through the process of designing a new piece. It is important at the beginning of the process to carefully assess the jewellery, particularly the stones, in order to provide helpful advice about what is possible and what you are looking to create. 

THE REDESIGN

Depending on what you are looking to create, the new piece could be an entirely different design to that of the original, or you may wish to retain some original inspiration and influence. Whilst many stones will be the main element of the new design, it’s also possible to incorporate new stones, or re-cut and polish the original to give it a new lease of life. Either way, it’s important to ensure a sympathetic and respectful balance between the original spirit of the piece, and a fresh modern design you will want to wear.
